A Word about Our Practice

Our practice is dedicated to the oral health care of children and adolescents. Our emphasis is on prevention and our range of services is comprehensive. This means we're concerned with teaching youngsters good brushing and flossing habits to ensure their healthy, happy smiles for a lifetime, and we provide all phases of restorative dental care.

Urgent treatment may sometimes be necessary because of a fractured or abscessed tooth, swelling of the jaws or other acute problems. We are always available in case of an emergency and can be reached through our pager.

Appointments

Appointments are made to allocate a specific time to perform a certain treatment. We respect our patient's time and make every effort to remain on schedule, likewise we appreciate those who arrive on time for their appointments, since it benefits everyone.

If an appointment must be changed, we appreciate a 24 hour notice so that another patient may be scheduled. We have also established policies concerning the time certain treatment can be performed or when particular ages are seen. This is mainly for the benefit of the patients and parents.

Dental Insurance

We are providers of HMO and PPO plans. Please check with the office to see which insurances we are providers for.

We will make every effort to assure you receive maximum benefits from your insurance company, and we will file claims for you out of courtesy. In order to provide this service, we will need your updated insurance information prior to each appointment.

We ask that you read your policy to be sure that you are fully aware of any limitations of the benefits provided. Your policy may base its allowances on a fixed rate fee schedule that may or may not coincide with our usual fees. You should be aware that different insurance companies vary greatly in the types of coverage available. Definite financial arrangements must be made for any balance above the estimated coverage.

Facts About Dental Insurance

Dental insurance is a contract between your employer and a dental insurance company. The benefits that you will receive are based on the terms of the contract that were negotiated between your employer and the dental insurance company and not your dental office. The goal of most dental insurance policies is to provide only basic care for specific dental services. The services selected are based on the cost of the policy to your employer and the negotiated arrangements with the dental insurance company. Because the benefits you currently have are decided between your employer and the insurance company, some services are not covered. The selection of non-covered services is not based on what you need or want but is based strictly on the contract with the insurance company.

Dental insurance is meant to be an aid in receiving dental care. Many patients think that their insurance pays 90-100% of all dental fees. This is not true. Most plans only pay between 50-80% of the average total fee. Some pay more, some pay less. The percentage paid is usually determined by how much you or your employer has paid for coverage or the type of contract your employer has set up with the insurance company.
